Three Bridges Festival

Chamber Music in Murray Bridge

20 and 21 July

Over two days, talented chamber musicians and ensembles from South Australia will present an array of performances that promise something for everyone. Whether you're a fan of the genre or simply curious, this festival is the perfect opportunity to discover the beauty and intimacy of chamber music.

Kids’ Workshop: Thea Martin

Thea Martin takes families on a musical journey to create your own chamber music piece together. This is a great opportunity for kids to find their inner composer!

Nathan May and Adelaide Baroque

Proud Arabana and Yawuru man Nathan May is joined by Adelaide Baroque string players to perform Wangkarda, by Nathan and Julian Ferraretto. The concert also features Baroque composer Vivaldi, all set amidst the beautiful Red Heart of Australia exhibtion from the National Museum of Australia.

Mandala: celebrating the soundscapes of various Australian national parks in the form of a guided sound bath meditation.

Inkling Trio

This innovative trio have roots in traditional, folk and classical styles, with jazz and modern grooves. Experiences this landscape-inspired concert while immersed in the National Museum of Australia touring exhibition Red Heart of Australia.

Musicians

  • Nathan May is an Arabana , Yawuru and Marridjabin man living on Kaurna country with his young family.

    One of Adelaide’s hardest working live performers, in 2019, Nathan performed 80 live performances locally, including a showcase at the Adelaide Fringe “Garden Sessions” that has led to his own solo show, Lost in The Dream, at the 2020 Adelaide Fringe.

    In recognition of the support he has received from mentors in his own life and career, he designs and delivers mentorship programs to young Aboriginal children through the Culture is Life suicide prevention program, Generation of Change program through Reconciliation SA, and school holiday music programs in Marree, Coober Pedy and Oodnadatta.

    Just returned from a European tour with thePierce Brothers in Feb - March 2024. Nathan has been traveling intensively in 2024 internationally and nationally.

  • Jesse Budel (b. 1991) is a composer-performer, sound artist, producer and arts entrepreneur based in South Australia. 

    His works are for diverse media and spaces, ranging from concert works and installations to community and interdisciplinary collaborations.

    Jesse’s PhD research at Elder Conservatorium of Music (supported by an Australian Government Research Training Program scholarship) focussed on adapting soundscape ecology to creative process, resulting in a body of works responding South Australian ecosystems and soundscapes, and receiving a Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence in 2019.

  • Katie is a is a emerging Ngarrindjeri/ Gunditjmara artist sharing stories of life, love and her culture. She performs vocals and acoustic guitar, experimenting with different sounds by working with a variety of producers. She has performed all over South Australia, notably at the Fringe festival (winner of the emerging artist award) SA Music Awards and regionally.

  • Adelaide Baroque is a musical organisation and a Baroque Orchestra. We delight in exciting contemporary audiences with the power of baroque music.

    For over 40 years Adelaide Baroque has given concerts of baroque music to enthusiastic audiences in South Australia, interstate and abroad. Concert programs have been innovative and varied, featuring music from the vast repertoire of 17th and 18th century European music as well as contemporary music from Australia.

  • Kegelstatt (skittle alley) is the subtitle of Mozart’s Trio for clarinet, viola and piano, composed, according to legend, in a single day after a game of skittles with friends. The themes of friendship and pleasure inherent in Mozart’s skittle alley story are central to the Kegelstatt philosophy, along with a mission to discover and present rare and great chamber music for unusual combinations of instruments.

  • Thea is a violinist, teaching artist and writer/composer practising on Kaurna Land/Adelaide. In 2021 she graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Advanced) from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, and was also an Artist in Residence at youth arts organisation Carclew. She is currently an Artist in Residence in two public primary schools, where she specialises in innovative string and ensemble programs, as well as collaborative composition models. She is a Co-Director of Connecting the Dots in Music, whose work in community-engaged arts has been commissioned and programmed by Carnegie Hall (NYC), the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, the Art Gallery of South Australia and a range of local schools, libraries and community centres.
