Collectif: Arc En Ciel

Collectif: Arc en Ciel musicians:

Harrison Smith: Flugelhorn
Celia Craig: oboe
Thomas Marlin: cello
Caspar Hawksley: electric guitar

In an increasingly noisy world, Collectif: Arc en Ciel offers true tranquility: improvised music, created live and in harmony with nature. Beyond simply making music, the goal of this unique group is to provide a focused space for deep listening and gentle renewal of the senses, inspiring innovation, creativity and much-needed calm.

Chromaesthesia, the live debut album from Collectif: Arc en Ciel, transformed pure improvisation into vivid landscapes of sound and colour. Each track evoked a synaesthetic journey, from violet seas and frozen tangos to diamond skies and emerald flashes: creative music that is alive, immersive, and deeply connected to nature and community.

French for ‘rainbow’, arc en ciel is a symbol of synaesthesia, neurodiversity and the full spectrum of the human experience. Collectif speaks to the group itself; a gathering of musicians from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their personal touch to this creative space. More than just performance, this is music as a quiet connection; artists and audience engaging in a shared experience; an antidote to stress and overload.

“At a time when daily life is crowded with screens, notifications and AI-generated noise, Arc en Ciel offers something grounding. Their performances create space for deep listening – an hour of gentle improvisation where audiences can slow down, breathe and reconnect with human creativity. This approach reflects the ethos that underpins much of Adelaide’s music scene: music not as spectacle, but as a shared experience that welcomes everyone…” ACOM Stories: Celia Craig - Reaching for the Rainbow - Adelaide UNESCO City of Music
