The Firm was formed in 1996 and headed by South Australian composers Quentin Grant and Raymond Chapman Smith.
The Firm’s philosophy is to promote the performance of new solo and chamber works, particularly those of South Australian composers, alongside great works of the 18th-20th century repertoire. It also provides a performance platform for some of Australia’s finest young musicians. The Firm's annual concert series invites audiences to engage with newly written 21st Century art music that embraces a poetic, romantic aesthetic, alongside great works from the repertoire of the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries.
In 2017 The Firm presents a series of four concerts comprising world and/or South Australian premieres of new works by South Australian composers as well as major works by its ‘2017 Posthumous Composer in Residence”, Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
