Kate Macfarlane

Kate is an Australian Coloratura Soprano specialising in Baroque and Contemporary Classical Repertoire. 

In Germany Kate has sung several world premiere opera productions, including Ole Hübner's Sweetieorpheus_27 and Anno Schreier's Prinzessin im Eis. She performed Ligeti's Mysteries of the Macabre for Cologne's Acht Brücken Festival.

In Australia Kate has worked with Various People Inc, Independent Theatre, Consort of Melbourne, Lyric Opera of Melbourne, Victorian Opera and State Opera of South Australia.

Opera roles include Serpetta (La Finta Giardiniera), Drusilla (Coronation of Poppea), Frasquita (Carmen), Papagena (Magic Flute), Cupid (Orpheus in the Underworld), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Cupid (Venus and Adonis) Lena (La Princesse Jaune), Bertha (Barber of Seville), Lucy (The Telephone), Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel).

She performed in The Shouting Fence, and Vesalius: a requiem (both written by Adelaide based composer Richard Chew), and concert performances as soloist in Messiah (Handel), Miserere Mei, Deus (Allegri), and Britten's Ceremony of Carols, and Hymn to St Cecilia.
