Across the Channel
Although years apart, the harpsichord music from Elizabethan England and that of the courts of Louis XIV and XV of France are years apart, both were played at court and had a strong affinity with lute music. The “style brisé” (broken style, arpeggiated texture) of the lute was a feature. In this concert these pieces will be contrasted and common threads will be discovered! This solo recital by harpsichordist Anne Whelan is part of Adelaide Baroque's Exploration Series.
